Eric Celarier is an accomplished artist whose “Future World” series is an introspective take on our impact on the planet. Through the use of innovative sculptures and prints, his work presents trash as a visual representation of the consequences of irresponsible waste management. Celarier urges us to reflect on our relationship with nature by examining the things we discard. Eric states: “Regardless of outcomes, there is no doubt that human beings have been an pivotal animal in Earth’s history. While our current trajectory implies that all life going forward will adapt to a world very different from which it evolved, there are no certainties. Trash leaves a trail, so, while our story may be told in many ways, sifting through what we discard may relate the most honest account of how things develop. Using trash as a metaphor the changes we make, I imagine future landscapes through my sculptures and prints.“
With extensive experience as an artist, instructor, and speaker, Eric has exhibited his work in a variety of solo and group shows. He holds a B.A. in Art and Art Education from the University of Maryland and an M.F.A. in Drawing from the University of Cincinnati. Celarier is also a licensed welding professional, holding a D1.1 certification in Structural Steel Welding. His work has been featured in numerous publications, and he regularly contributes to the arts community by hosting workshops and professional development events for emerging artists.
