As I have grown as an artist, I want to have an artistic voice that will help share my life concerns. I feel happy if my work benefits others. When I have been creating artworks that enhance the quality of other people’s lives, my creativity and life purpose become joyful. My work, as well as my life experiences, have given me sophisticated knowledge of the art education field. I wish to use these skills to further my work in an art education environment.

Community Space—Soul Connection

The “Soul Connection” sculpture is a circular work of art made of metal and stone, with patterns both inside and outside. It features lotus petals and shapes such as circles and pentagons that represent the universe. The sculpture embodies the idea of a global soul, utilizing number theory of one, double-five, and ten to support this concept. Its most striking feature is a mosaic circle at the center surrounded by a mandala bearing “doves of peace”. The doves represent peace while the nest signifies home. Additionally, the mandala symbolizes the process of doves building their nest together, with a central star bearing light. The artist designed the sculpture with precision, with images of doves and pentagons made explicit in the artwork. The sculpture seeks to connect individuals to nature, empowering them to strengthen not only themselves but also their communities and the natural environment.

Immigration—Boat People

We each have our own special place, somewhere deep within us, that is all our own. It develops from the world where we are born — it’s images, smells, languages, sounds, and rhythms. This place is always within us.

Who am I? The essential question of identity that is at the heart of a life’s quest. To where do I belong? The question of belonging in place — The root. . . My root gives me firm ground to walk on; It is the place that I come from, and It shapes my character, my soul, and my wishes; It informs my destiny, my life purpose and my dream path. Understanding where I come from helps me get a better sense of direction, toward where I am going in the world. Through my growth I see a connection of my root with who I am now.

Global Soul

The world is becoming more connected and diverse, and it’s important to have support from a community. The Global Soul sculpture represents the idea that every person is part of a larger universe. The sculpture is inspired by a quote from a philosopher who believed that we need others to understand ourselves. The sculpture is made of metal and has three globes, showing that our personal world is a part of a larger world. The artist uses earthy colors to show that everything is connected in nature. The goal of the sculpture is to encourage people to work together and create a better world that we can all call home.

The Root of Our Being

We each have our own special place, somewhere deep within us, that is all our own. It develops from the world where we are born — it’s images, smells, languages, sounds, and rhythms. This place is always within us.

Who am I? The essential question of identity that is at the heart of a life’s quest. To where do I belong? The question of belonging in place — The root. . . Understanding where I come from helps me get a better sense of direction, toward where I am going in the world. Through my growth I see a connection of my root with who I am now.
